Navigation and Survival Skills
New Myrnam School has used the expertise and equipment of St. Paul Search and Rescue to offer two CTS modules in the school's Outdoor Education Program.
WLD1060: WILDERNESS NAVIGATION - Students develop the attitudes, skills, and knowledge in wilderness navigation to enhance their outdoor experiences. Students were able to learn orienteering skills by using St. Paul Search and Rescue's GPS and compasses in Mr. Tymofichuk's Outdoor Education classes.
WLD1130: OUTDOOR SURVIVAL SKILLS - Students develop and demonstrate the attitudes, skills, and knowledge required for responsible participation in a range of outdoor activities. In this course, students learned winter survival techniques such as fire making and shelter construction.
STEM
Mr. Tymofichuk has used St. Paul Search and Rescue's DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise in his Science Class. Students learned about how infra-red radiation can be used to locate a lost person or can be used for detecting hotspots in a forest fire.
